They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Seeing your great-grandfather’s photo take during the Great Recession shows the form of the man. The family tree brings the tree of life! It captures the family history through oral, written and photo materials provided by different family members. Every member in the family has an inspirational purpose to the other family members to keep up the legacy and tradition. In other words.. It’s makes us unique and stronger.

Family means everything: “Blood is thicker than the Water”.

We were raised the old fashion way. Majority in the family members are either in the US Military or in the Health Care/ Medicines. Each of us has its own chores and responsibilities.

The relationship and bond with the family is like “tough love”. No family is perfect. We argue, we fight, we even stop talking to each other at times. But in the end, family is family— the love will always be there.

We all grow up differently. In my case, I grew up being an independent. I started working by the age of 9. I have knowledge and skills about business industries. My parent’s used to own a business merchandise in the Philippines. I was a young sole proprietorship.

At the age of 18, I left California and relocated in DC then moved to Florida. I stayed at my cousin’s house while I was working and going to school at the same time. 4 years later, I started living on my own and paying my own bills. I basically grew up the American way.

My brother Audie, grew up in Singapore, California and Seattle, WA. He also started living on his own after he graduated in college. He moves around from different states, just like me. Whereas my 2 other brothers (Aaron and Alexis), did not experienced working and going to school at the same time.

I am very close with my 2nd cousins, and my dad’s 1st cousins.

My parents are the most generous people I know. My family always taught me how to be kind, spend money wisely, and not being materialistic. They want us to learn the practical way because life is full of surprises. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored! Time is GOLD!

In family, we learn how to be more tough.. I think my family and relatives are the most intense and intimidating human being.. Why? Because I  hardly bring a friend at home, sometimes it is scary to make mistakes because carrying your family’s name is what you care.. “to have a good reputation and  also, to have a high standard character!” Being a Labrador is hard. It’s like a competition! It take guts to be a Labrador!

The worst thing you can do for family is deny it; so when you have that special bond, don’t let anyone or anything to get in your way!

To the outside world we all grow old. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.

Family is something you can’t buy nor trade.
